There’s a Seamstress in my Dollhouse Sewing Room!

It occurred to me that I haven’t shown any “before” pictures of my dollhouse! I only took one photo of it before starting to decorate.

It’s a dollhouse bookshelf with white walls inside and outside. It came with blue window and door frames and a pink roof. It wasn’t very expensive, and my husband helped me assemble it. I’m so grateful that he’s always supportive of my little projects!

Obviously, I haven’t been concerned about having a consistent scale for my furniture and decorations. In fact, I love the mix of different sizes. My dolls are all different sizes, so there’s something for everyone in my dollhouse!

Funny enough, last week’s Spoonflower design theme was dollhouse wallpaper! I decided to create a wallpaper of bricks for the outside of my dollhouse. I painted the window frame brown, which changed the look and feel of the dollhouse.

I’m so delighted with how it looks! A little window box of flowers made it even more charming!

Then, of course, the sewing room needed a seamstress! I made a dress for this little bunny, and I also made her a chair to sit on.

Here’s the house so far, with the sewing room completed. (I think.) It looks a little dark in there, so I may look into some type of lighting.

Jodi from the blog My Miniature Madness wrote about her dollhouse lighting project. I never realized there were so many options available – and then she changed them up to fit the style of her dollhouse. Brilliant!!

Wishing you a great week!

  1. I loved seeing the before photo, and then the after photo shows how teeny the sewing room really is. Your little seamstress is adorable!

    1. Thank you, Amelia Jane! I’m glad I thought to take at least one photo before I got going on it!

  2. It is so much more fun to create a mini space with an inhabitant in mind, isn’t it? She looks perfectly at home and coordinated into the sewing room! Her little lace adorned dress is delightful, too! I love the brick paper exterior you created and the vibrant flower box! It will be so enjoyable to see more of your creative ideas and bespoke designs as you customize this adorable house! Can’t wait to see the owl, the pig and the cow make their cameos, too!

    1. Jodi, thank you so much for all your encouragement and kindness! The owl, pig, and owl are waiting impatiently for their places in the house!

  3. Those tiny rolls of fabric just are SO charming! Look at your little seamstress! This is the most adorable thing yet.
I kid you not, Michelle, we are in the middle of preparing to move (and I cannot yet talk about it on my blog, which is killing me) and it’s stressful, and I have looked at your dollhouse photos many times to soothe myself! YOU ARE DOING THE WORK OF ANGELS. I swear! It’s so calming to me to look at this adorable creation. All your creations are adorable of course, but this takes the cake!

    1. Oh, Nicole, your sweet comment just made my day and made me all teary-eyed. I’m so happy to know that these photos have been soothing for you. Moving is a big stressful deal. I’m looking forward to when you do talk about it on your blog – I’m so curious to know all the details! In the meantime, hang in there, and I wish you all the best.
