It’s Pumpkin Time!

I love October! I love the cooler weather, colorful leaves, and shorter daylight hours. I love getting cozy under a blanket, wearing a comfortable jacket, and sipping hot tea. And, of course, I love pumpkins!

I “carved” digital pumpkins with Lettie Blue in her newest Skillshare class.

I’ve been drawing and doodling and taking some online classes. There are so many fun Halloween projects everywhere I look, and it’s easy to get overwhelmed by all the choices!

Doggust is hosting a Halloween Pawty! They’re asking for illustrations of dogs in Halloween costumes and pumpkins.

I definitely prefer “cute Halloween” over “scary Halloween.”

I sent my blog book PDF off to LuLu to be printed as a hardcover book. I can’t wait to get it! In the future, I’m going to use the Print My Blog WordPress Plugin to keep a physical record of my blog. The plugin was recommended by Elisabeth from The Optimistic Musings of a Pessimist blog. Thank you Elisabeth!

I hope you have a great week!

  1. I like the first photo so much. I’m a sucker for googly eyes. I didn’t know about having your blog printed. I used to do that manually, but gave up on that. This sounds like a much better way.

    1. Thank you, Ally! I love googly eyes too, and I’d like to put them on everything…but I try to control myself!

  2. That’s so smart to get your blog printed off! Yay and happy October to you! I love the cute Halloween too but I’m in the minority here – in our old house we were famous in the neighbourhood for a spooky setup in our front yard. We gave all those decorations to our old neighbour, who used to compete with my husband in terms of lawn decorations. I worried it was a bit scary for the little ones, but usually they would come super early when it was still light out.

    1. Hi Nicole! I remember seeing pictures of your spooky setup, and it was really cool! I’ll bet your old neighbor was delighted to get all the decorations! I just got the notice that my blog book has been shipped! I can’t wait to get it!

  3. A hardcover book?! That’s going to be so satisfying Michelle, a wonderful thing to do.

Thanks for all the pumpkin pictures, they make me feel so warm and cosy. We love Autumn (& Halloween) in our house too, but while the skeletons have come down from the attic we’ve been a bit slow to decorate properly since it’s been 22 degrees Celsius here in the UK the past few days with lots of bright sunshine, so it hasn’t felt that Autumnal. Back to rain and grey skies today though so maybe we’ll get our Halloween groove on tonight.

Digital pumpkin sounds fun & not less messy!

    1. Hi Rae! I hope you get some fall & Halloween weather soon! We’re having rain and grey skies right now, and I love it! I’m looking forward to getting my blog book – I just got the notice that it’s been shipped!

  4. There are many things I love about fall and I try to stay focused on them so that the loss of sunlight and cool, cloudy days don’t overshadow my attitude. I usually start off the month of October by making all my favorite soups. By the end of the month it is usually meatloaf time! Since you are also from Montana you probably enjoy a good pasty, as well!

Fun, happy Halloween is my jam, too. Love the pumpkins, kids in costumes, bite sized candy but boy do I miss the popcorn balls. Remember those?

Can’t wait to see your blog book! How fun it will be for you to reminisce with an actual book in your hands!

    1. Hi Jodi! Oh, I do love soups and all those cozy dishes! It’s nice to be able to cook things without heating up the house! I’m looking forward to getting my blog book!

  5. I prefer cute Halloween to scary Halloween, too.

I’m so excited you’re getting your blog printed! 🖤

  6. Oh yay! I’m so glad you’re getting your blog printed! How exciting. And I’m thrilled that my little blog disaster has led to so many people backing up/printing their blogs!

Pumpkins. *Happy sigh* – I just love fall. I wish it lasted longer (where I live in Eastern Canada it can be a VERY short season in terms of being able to delay winter gear), but I love it while it lasts!!

Those little pumpkins with squiggly eyes? My daughter would LOSE HER MIND with happiness over those! I bet I could find something at the DollarStore that we could “hack” to look like that – using sharpie and googly eyes. Maybe a craft idea for this coming weekend?

    1. Hi Elisabeth! I was so sorry about your blog disaster, but yes it did help a lot of people, me included. You and your daughter could definitely make little pumpkins with googly eyes! That’s exactly how I did it. They’re super easy and they make me smile. Have fun!
